Aimee Brickner PhD LPC
My approach to counseling integrates several different therapeutic styles with the common thread that all are person-centered approaches. I believe that each person is unique, so I do not subscribe to a “one size fits all” approach to counseling; rather, I will listen to your strengths and struggles and tailor our sessions to fit your individual needs.
I enjoy working with clients from varied backgrounds who present with a range of challenges. Most of my clinical work and training is in the area of trauma so I approach each and every client from the perspective of trauma-informed care. It is important that no matter what issue you are coming in to work on, I first ensure that you feel safe and then begin to build a trusting relationship between us.
Because each person comes to counseling with a different area or issue they want to work on, I view my role as a facilitator of the change process. The therapeutic approaches I most frequently utilize are Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, client-centered psychotherapy, family systems theory, and a focus on the interpersonal process that develops between the client and counselor. In addition, I have been trained in play therapy and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and use both when working with children.
I am currently only seeing clients on Mondays. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
